Before you can read Arabic, you need to learn to decode it. This course starts from zero: the direction of writing, the 28 letters grouped into shape families (ب ت ث، ج ح خ، د ذ، ر ز، س ش، ص ض، ط ظ، ع غ، ف ق…), their names and sounds, the sounds English doesn't have (ح ع ق خ غ and the emphatics ص ض ط ظ), the short vowels (fatḥa, kasra, ḍamma), sukūn, shadda, tanwīn, the long vowels ا و ي and your first syllables (بَ بِ بُ، بَا بِي بُو). Transliteration in every prompt and every explanation. For absolute beginners (level A0, before A1).
